Super Star Rajinikanth's next film, after his prior successful venture with Shankar's Enthiran (2010), will be Kochadaiyaan directed by his daughter Soundarya. The film which is expected to be shot with motion capture in 3D. This is India's first Performance capture photo realistic film.
A tentatively scheduled release period of August 2013 was also announced. The Kochadaaiyan images has been released as soon as the movie has been named. The story is all about the King Kochadaiyaan Ranadhiran of Pandya Dynasty, and that the plot would be a "fictional account with small references to history".

The tamil movie Kochadaiyaan is based on the story of Pandiyan king Kochadaiyaan Ranadhiran(710-735 A.D) He was the son and successor of Arikesari Maravarman. He had waged aggressive wars against the Cheras and Cholas and defeated them. He had assumed titles like Mannar Mannan, Vanavan Sembiyan, Madura Karunatakan and Kongar Koman.
